Gerad Parker’s Troy Trojans go on hot streak of landing new commitments

2025 OL Gavin Bowlin from Leeds (Ala.) High

Since June 13, the Troy Trojans have landed seven new commitments, including a run of six commitments in as many days.

Troy’s 2025 class currently has 12 commitments, and 10 of those players camped for the staff this month. From what sources tell On3, the Trojans’ staff feels even more confident in their evaluations of their 2025 commits after seeing them in person.

Another interesting fact about Troy’s 2025 class is that they haven’t hosted any prospects for official visits yet. The staff’s plan has been to have prospects come to town for an unofficial and load up during the season on official visits.

Many schools like to have a high majority of their class locked up in the summer and have June official visit weekends. But Troy is going with the approach of saving their big push with recruits closer to National Signing Day.

The June commitment party for new head coach Gerad Parker got started June 13, when Excel (Ala.) High’s Reggis Shamberger picked the Trojans over Illinois State, Jacksonville State, Jackson State and others. He was considered a Troy lean for a few weeks before his commitment date, and the 6-3, 280-pounder gives the Trojans an athletic class of 2025 defensive lineman who impressed Parker’s staff with his movement skills on the basketball court as well.

Troy is really excited about the addition of McKenzie (Ala.) High class of 2025 wideout Jah’Marren Jackson, who picked the Trojans over Southern Mississippi June 16. Jackson comes from a small school in the Yellowhammer State and is a diamond in the rough type prospect. He wasn’t garnering much attention, but Troy general manager Drew Casa identified Jackson and invited him to participate in one of their camps. Jackson lit it up, and the Troy staff was happy to lock in a pledge from the 6-5, 182-pounder.

The Trojans pulled a prospect out of a national powerhouse June 17 when Darius Johnson picked Troy. The 5-10, 150-pound speedster out of Miami Northwestern also held offers from Auburn, Arkansas, West Virginia, SMU and others during his recruiting process. The three-star wide receiver is one of Troy’s most high-profile commits of the class, as he held over 30 scholarship offers. He was previously committed to Florida International.

Troy landed its first commitment in the 2026 class June 18 in Mobile (Ala.) B C Rain safety Ladarius Moore. Oregon, Marshall and Southern Miss are among his other scholarship offers. Remember the name Ladarius Moore, as he’s going to only blow up more as a prospect moving froward. He balled out when he camped for the Troy staff and became a “no-brainer” for them according to a source. Moore ran a 4.61 40-yard dash, which is quite the impressive time for a rising junior.

Niceville (Fla.) High safety Jon Bocchino joined Troy’s 2025 class June 19 over offers from Mercer, Toledo, Coastal Carolina, Youngstown State, Massachusetts and many others. He’s among the prospects that camped for Troy and impressed the staff, checking in at 6-0, 191 pounds and ran a 4.51 in the 40-yard dash.

Leeds (Ala.) High’s Gavin Bowlin, who ranks as a three-star prospect and No. 89 overall offensive tackle according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, was a huge land for the Trojans. Bowlin announced his pledge to Troy June 20 and had offers from Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Middle Tennessee State, Arkansas State, Marshall and Western Kentucky. He could’ve picked one of his power conference options but wanted to stay in-state to help build the next phase of Troy football under Parker.

Pell City (Ala.) High’s Jamari Johnson became a huge cornerback target for Troy after he camped for the staff and earned his offer. Per a source, the Trojans’ staff was already impressed by Johnson’s talents and it became clear to them that they needed to push for his commitment after he stood out in camp, which was highlighted by him running a 4.51 40-yard dash. Johnson committed to Troy June 21.
