Fabrizio Romano says how Jarrad Branthwaite really feels about joining Manchester United from Everton

After a rather mundane start to the window, yesterday saw Everton’s summer erupt in sensational fashion.

Whether it be Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s move to Newcastle United falling through or Everton’s bid for Yankuba Minseh, or even their late efforts to sign Iliman Ndiaye, it all occurred within the space of about half an hour.

And that’s without mentioning Everton re-signing Jack Harrison on loan again from Leeds United, their second acquisition of the window.

Whilst it is easy to get caught up in all the drama of incoming transfers, it must not be forgotten that Manchester United still want Jarrad Branthwaite, and by all accounts, he is ready to make the move.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Jarrad Branthwaite’s transfer plans

Speaking to The United Stand’s official channels, naturally, their focus was centred around transfers.

After all, this is what the Italian journalist has made his name for, and has been particularly busy in the last 24 hours reporting on Everton’s latest dealings.

Funnily enough, this update coincides with the Toffees’ summer plans, although this time it is to relay information they will not want to hear about Branthwaite.

He claimed: Jarrad Branthwaite remains a strong option for #mufc, as the player is keen to join. Conversations with his agents are ongoing.

‘The situation depends on Everton’s financial decisions this week, particularly regarding Financial Fair Play and player sales. Everton’s asking price for Branthwaite is around £65-70 million, which Manchester United is unlikely to pay.

‘The player is waiting for United’s decision, which will be influenced by Everton’s position.’

Jarrad Branthwaite is too important for Everton to lose

Although Kevin Thelwell is already operating well in the market, to lose Branthwaite would prove a very tough player to replace.

After all, his skillset is wholly unique, which is what makes it so understandable why the Red Devils are so keen on him.

He stands at a mighty 6 foot 5 and is well-built for his age, yet blends this fine physique with a turn of pace that makes him the perfect modern-day defender.

And, although his passing range is somewhat negated by Sean Dyche’s system, he still gets ample opportunity to showcase his fine quality in possession too, striding out from the back and using his favoured left foot, another selling point, to find a teammate.

Not to mention that he has just recently made his full England debut, the sky really is the limit for the 21-year-old who is breaking down every barrier in his way.

However, to keep him for one more season would be huge for Everton, who rely on all of these assets beside the somewhat slower James Tarkowski to make a perfectly balanced defence.

Whilst a huge sum would be nice to boost their coffers, there really is no amount of money that could replace Branthwaite at the back.
