King's Lynn's first away win in almost two years saw them move off the foot of the Rowe Motor Oil Premiership table.
The PSH Environmental Stars were 47-43 victors at Birmingham as they secured three league points to leapfrog their opponents.
Inspired guest selections Rohan Tungate and Adam Ellis both scored double figures and got the job done in a last-heat decider as Rob Lyon’s side extended their unbeaten run to four meetings in all competitions.
Tungate and Benjamin Basso got the Stars off to a dream start in the opener as they got a 5-1 over last year’s World No.2 Freddie Lindgren who was making his home debut for the Brummies.
The hosts hit back instantly with a maximum of their own before a couple of 3-3s kept the scores level with four races gone.
Tungate and Basso again put the Stars ahead in Heat Five, this time with a 4-2 before the pendulum began to swing in opposite directions.
Firstly, Birmingham landed another 5-1 with Jan Kvech and Patrick Wojdylo bettered by Lindgren and Tom Brennan to move them ahead by two - but the Stars regained the two-point lead in Heat Seven with Ellis and Niels-Kristian Iversen riding a solid opening lap.
The Brummies retook the lead themselves with another 5-1 in Heat Eight and narrowly held the advantage until after Heat Ten following a couple more shared races.
But successive 4-2s, firstly another from Tungate and Basso and then Ellis and Wojdylo, saw the Stars move 37-35 ahead with three to go.
Tungate maintained his unbeaten night by taking the flag in Heat 13 after a good early battle with Lindgren before Anders Rowe and Iversen tucked in for the minor places in Heat 14 to leave the Stars with a slender advantage.
Lyon put his faith in his two guest bookings and Tungate got off to a flying start to leave them well-placed.
But as Ellis was mounting a challenge for third, a collision with homeman Brennan sent him tumbling into the fence.
SCB referee Mick Bates disqualified the Birmingham racer and the Stars were awarded the victory.
Boss Lyon said: “I wouldn’t say it’s a pivotal moment but an important result because had Birmingham turned the tables the other way, there would’ve been a bit of a gap between us.
“We got all three points which is great and it was a great team performance again.
“Everyone is doing their job pretty much and it makes a big difference.”
King’s Lynn now prepare for their Knockout Cup Semi-Final decider at Sheffield on Thursday.
