Exclusive: Tottenham make enquiry to sign 'world class' midfielder currently at Euro 2024

Tottenham Hotspur are now advancing in their attempts to add a new creative outlet to Ange Postecoglou’s squad next season.

Beginning his first European campaign in north London, Postecoglou will hope to welcome a host of signings this summer.

The club are thought to be in the market for a defensive midfielder as well as a versatile wide-forward, someone who can change a game for Spurs.

Perhaps a lot will depend on the future of Richarlison, who has long-been a target for the Saudi Pro League.

That being said, TBR understands that Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze is emerging as an option for Tottenham this summer, who is currently at Euro 2024 with England.

Eze replaced Phil Foden in the closing stages against Denmark last Thursday, and demonstrated that he belonged at such a level.

And TBR understands that Tottenham have now made enquiries about the 25-year-old, who offers Postecoglou a very versatile skill set.

Eberechi Eze would be open to leaving Palace for Tottenham this summer

Eze’s good friend, Michael Olise, is set to depart Palace for Bayern Munich, and TBR understands that Eze is open to the idea of moving himself.

However, Selhurst Park sources insist that to get Eze, his release clause will have to be met and that is understood to be worth more than £60m.

Of course, Tottenham could have strong competition in that regard, and all of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have also been keeping close checks on Eze in recent months.

As stated, Spurs are keen to add at least one forward this window – not counting the loan renewal of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

And although ‘world class‘ Eze is emerging as the main option right now, Tottenham also like his England teammate, Jarrod Bowen.

Unfortunately for Spurs, West Ham United have insisted that Bowen is not for sale.

And given Bowen now has a contract that runs until 2030, any move could likely demand more than Arsenal paid to sign Declan Rice a year ago.

Tottenham also interested in Lille striker Jonathan David

As well as their admiration for Eze, Spurs are reportedly also interested in Lille striker Jonathan David.

Alasdair Gold just reiterated Tottenham’s ‘serious interest’ in David, who could be an option if the club go for a more traditional number nine.

24-year-old David scored 19 goals in Ligue 1 last season, demonstrating what he could add in north London.

However, some of those who have watched David extensively feel as if he could present a similar conundrum to Richarlison at Tottenham.

A player who is good in several areas, but doesn’t really excel at one – as harsh as that may sound.
