Report: Regis Le Bris has already given his verdict on Sunderland transfers following appointment

Sunderland under new manager Regis Le Bris look set for a busy transfer window.

Sunderland have finally hired a new manager, bringing in Regis Le Bris more than four months since the club sacked Michael Beale.

The Black Cats though have already gotten to work in the summer transfer window, making Simon Moore their first signing.

The experienced shot-stopper’s arrival may signal at a change in transfer mentality from those at Sunderland this summer.

Last season’s downfall highlighted a desperate lack of experience in the first-team squad, which is something both Beale and Mike Dodds pointed out.

Reports have suggested that Sunderland will target players with more Championship experience during this summer’s transfer window.

With a new manager arriving, it’ll inevitably impact upon matters in the transfer market. But it appears as though Le Bris has already had some input on transfer activity at the Stadium of Light since his arrival.

Sunderland transfer state of play after Regis Le Bris appointment

An emerging report from Sunderland Echo has revealed the transfer state of play at Sunderland following the arrival of Le Bris.

Their report states that Le Bris, despite only arriving recently, ‘has had extensive input’ in terms of ‘giving his views on the current squad’ at Sunderland.

Le Bris has also had his say on ‘where reinforcements might be needed and even some initial thoughts on club targets’.

The same report concluded that Sunderland ‘don’t believe they’re behind where they need to be’ during this summer’s transfer window, which opened for business earlier in June.

One key aspect for Regis Le Bris and Sunderland this summer

Whilst Sunderland desperately need to bring in some names this summer, ideally more experienced ones, the main focus for the Black Cats might be with regards to potential outgoings.

Sunderland have a list of players who’ve attracted Premier League interest this summer and look set to say goodbye to at least a couple of them.

Anthony Patterson is being heavily linked with a move away whilst Jack Clarke is a long-term target of a number of teams, with others like Trai Hume, Jobe Bellingham, and more in transfer headlines.

So for Le Bris, managing those outgoings, and ensuring that he doesn’t leave himself too light on star quality next season will be key.

The likes of Patterson and Clarke are players with Championship experience now, which is what Sunderland need.

At the same time, however, Sunderland will know that they have to cash in on valuable assets sooner or later, especially so being a Championship club.
