Holme’s White Horse pub reopens ready for summer after undergoing renovations by new owners Anglian Country Inns

A coastal pub has reopened ready for the summer after undergoing a “stunning transformation”.

The White Horse in Holme was recentlypurchased by award-winning hospitality group Anglian Country Inns (ACI), which took an interest in the 18th-century property because of its history and natural surroundings.

Now, after renovations, the pub has emerged with a fresh new look and is open for business.

The 18th century property has undergone major renovations

Inside features low ceilings, an inglenook fireplace, and restored dining furniture.

Whereas outside has a south-facing garden, fire pit, seating, a pétanque sports area, designated kids’ playground and a new entrance which leads to a spacious parking area.

But that’s not all, as the pub has welcomed Will Pryke, as general manager, and Ian Daw as head chef, designing new menus to support produce from Norfolk’s farmers, fishermen and suppliers, including Sandringham Farm, Morley Farm in South Creake, Mrs Temple’s Cheese and Billy Ward’s lobsters.

“I feel very honoured to have been in at the beginning of this amazing adventure,” Ian said.

“To me, this isn’t just another pub in Norfolk, it’s a testament to the community, its people, and its produce.

“Will and I have poured our hearts into ensuring that authenticity shines through, and we’re confident our guests will taste the difference.”

Will Pryke invited residents Carrie and Martin Harvey for the first drink

The seasonal menu will serve weekly specials based on supplier availability and there will always fish and chips on a Friday.

Will added: “Keeping the community at the heart of the pub will be key to its success – like locals Carrie and Martin Harvey who were the first to join me for a drink across the bar, they were also the first at The White Horse, Brancaster Staithe, all those 27 years ago.”

“We’ve recruited a fantastic team of local talent who share our passion for creating a memorable experience.

“At White Horse Holme-next-the-Sea, our ethos of making people happy is at the forefront of everything we do.”
