Newark’s Isabel Darvill reaches podium in the British Cycling National Women`s Circuit Race Championships in Darling over the weekend, racing for UCI Registered Continental Team, Doltcini-O`Shea

Newark cyclist Isabel Darvill scored a career best placing in the recent British Cycling National Wome’s Circuit Race Championships.

Racing for the UCI Registered Continental Team, Doltcini-O’Shea, the championship race was held in Darlingtonon on Friday night.

Riding a very tactical race always, placing herself at the front of the pack, Darvill sprinted over the line to take third place on the podium.

Held on a tight course with seven corners, the pace was consistently high with several attempted breakaways in what was a brutal race.

This success was quickly following by the Newark cyclist winning the VIA Kings Cross Race in London on Saturday.

Isabel was then expected to turn her attention to the LOGCO Otley Grand Prix on Wednesday, followed by the Ilkley Women’s Grand Prix tomorrow.

To add another great result was Darvill’s Team mate, Jessica Finney finishing 12th in the Road Race Championship at Saltburn by Sea on Sunday in very hot conditions.

Ollie Saunders of the promoting club won the second event in the Newark Castle Cycling Club’s eight-mile Road Bike Time Trial on Thursday night, in a time of 19 minutes two seconds.

Second was Martin Hall in a time of 19 minutes 44 seconds, and third was Simon Warren in 20 minutes eight seconds.

In all, 19 riders rode the race in ideal conditions.
