Arsenal legend Thierry Henry backed to land ‘shock’ new job after Euro 2024 calamity

Iconic former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has now been linked with an international management job.

Thierry Henry is currently in charge of the France under-21s side.

The former Arsenal star will also lead the nation’s team at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris. Henry was keen to call up William Saliba for that competition but Arsenal have refused his request.

As the Olympics is not run by Fifa or Uefa, clubs face no obligation to release their players to take part.

However, it now seems that Henry may not be guiding the French youngsters for too much longer, as he could be about to be offered the opportunity to take charge of a senior side once again.

The 46-year-old has already held such roles with Monaco and Montreal Impact, and may now be considering another challenge.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry linked with Scotland job

There is doubt over the future of Steve Clarke after Scotland’s disastrous showing at Euro 2024.

The Scots were knocked out of the summer tournament in the group stage, having been thrashed by hosts Germany 5-1 in the opening match of the competition. They then battled to a 1-1 draw against Switzerland, before their fate was sealed by a 1-0 loss at the hands of Hungary.

According to FourFourTwo, Henry has been tipped to take up the Scotland job in a “shock” move, following the Olympics.

The 123-cap former France international would certainly be a high profile appointment for Scotland, and would give the country a lift after the devastation of their Euro 2024 showing.

Arsenal outcast Kieran Tierney suffers Euro 2024 nightmare

Euro 2024 could not have gone much worse for Kieran Tierney in Germany. Not only did Scotland disappoint, but he also picked up an injury.

Mikel Arteta would have been keen for the Scotland left-back, who spent last season away from the Emirates Stadium on loan with Real Sociedad, to impress at the tournament. Arsenal are keen to sell Tierney this summer, and may have found it easier to find suitors for his services had he been able to shine on the international stage.

Tierney has now returned to Arsenal though, in order for his injury to be assessed. If he is set to spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines then the Gunners will find it all but impossible to move him on in this summer transfer window.
