Trump 'backstabber' wants a Virginia race recount — and will pay for it: report

The bare-knuckled race for a contentious Virginia House seat could go to a recount.

Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) was trailing GOP rival state Sen. John McGuire by 370 votes in the state's fifth district primary race.

When pressed in the Capitol corridors about his plans to conduct another voting tally, Good confirmed by saying: "Yes," according to POLITICO.

"We just want an accurate reflection of the intent of the voters who legitimately, and legally, participated. Everybody should want that,” Good exclaimed. “We intend to pursue that. And we'll respect that when that does happen."

The call for a recount comes after the House Freedom Caucus chair's contest proved too close to call.

However, that didn't stop McGuire from coming forward to claim victory that night.

The outlet noted that Good's number of votes shy falls within the threshold needed to seek a recount, he's short by 0.5 percentage-points-or-less which mandate a government-funded recount.

So he will have to cover the costs using his own campaign coffers.

And Good is apparently ready to float the cost to pay for it: "Yes," he said.

Good has already spun reasons to cast doubt on the election results.

After the too-close-to-call results, he suggested three voting precincts in Albemarle County, Hanover County, and Lynchburg were evacuated for 20 minutes each due to fires.

“What is the probability?” he posted on Twitter/X.”Does anyone recall even 1 fire at a precinct on election day?”

He answered himself stating: “AI estimates the probability being 0.0000000318% chance.”

Virginia election officials threw cold water on the blaze claims, stating there weren't any actual fires, but that fire alarms had sounded in three of the state’s 303 precincts.

Once a Trump darling when he was first elected into Congress back in 2020, Good has since fallen out of favor with former President Donald Trump .

That row arose when Good decided to back Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the primary race — a move that cost him crucial MAGA points.

"If he's reelected, Bob Good will stab Virginia in the back, sort of like he did with me," Trump preached at a rally for McGuire.
