Abdallah Sima goads teammate with training ground snap as Gers return for pre-season

Abdallah Sima was (probably) the most effective Rangers forward from last season.

In fact, had it not been for a devastatingly ironic injury sustained by Sima after a recall with Senegal for AFCON, it might’ve been a legendary campaign for the attacker.

But after toiling to get back to full fitness following that mid season issue, Abdallah Sima saw the second half of his campaign painfully stunted.

It’s led to a real feeling that the 23-year-old Brighton loanee has unfinished business in Glasgow.

Now, as Rangers return to pre-season training, you get the feeling our man Abdallah is pining a little bit for Auchenhowie as he goads an ex-Ibrox teammate on Instagram.

Sima uploads Rangers training ground snap

It’s clear Abdallah Sima was a positive member of the Rangers squad last season.

The ex-Slavia Prague attacker himself claimed that he’d finally found a home in Glasgow after two years out on loan following a move to Brighton and is hoping to return.

Ridvan Yilmaz – who also hasn’t had his injury problems to seek – is another whose future is a tad uncertain this summer.

But with the Turkish international back at the Rangers Training Centre all systems are go ahead of the new season.

Except there is one thing seemingly missing as Abdallah Sima ribs Yilmaz via an Instagram post.

Sharing an edited image of himself clearing the hurdle of Yilmaz’s diminutive frame, it looks like someone has got a bad case of FOMO ahead of next season.

Rangers face transfer wait

Whilst we can psychoanalyse these social media posts until the proverbial cows come home, for the time being Abdallah Sima is not a Rangers player.

But not for the want of trying.

The Senegalese attacker has made no bones about wanting to return to Rangers whilst Philippe Clement has been clear the feeling is mutual.

The sticking point is Brighton & Hove Albion, who do appear willing to strike a deal for the attacker.

That said, amid a summer of upheaval at the AMEX, Brighton have just appointed the youngest Premier League manager in the competition’s history.

It remains unclear if Fabian Hurzeler wants to keep Sima around but we do suspect the English club will want to run the rule over the player.

With Sima also costing Brighton £6m in 2021, and the attacker having up to two more years at the club, we suspect Rangers might have to open the chequebook to sign him.
