Manchester United fans made their position clear on Lisandro Martinez after his performance for Argentina in the 1-0 win against Chile at the 2024 Copa America.
Lisandro Martinez and Manchester United teammate Alejandro Garnacho have been away from Old Trafford after they were called up to the 26-man Argentina squad.
Argentina are defending champions at the tournament, having previously lifted the Copa America title in 2021 with a 1-0 win over Brazil in the final.
Martinez, who lifted the World Cup with Argentina in 2022, has become a key player for La Albiceleste boss Lionel Scaloni at the 2024 Copa America in the United States.
The 26-year-old United star started alongside Tottenham defender Cristian Romero in the heart of defence for Argentina’s Copa America opener against Canada.
Martinez produced a superb showing in the Group A opener against Canada, with the Red Devils centre-back playing the full 90 minutes in the 2-0 win.

Lisandro Martinez retained his place in the starting XI alongside Cristian Romero for the second Group A match against Chile on Wednesday.
The former Ajax star once again saw out the full 90 minutes for his country, with Lautaro Martinez scoring the winner for Argentina in the 88th minute.
Lionel Scaloni’s men have now punched their ticket to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Copa America with their victory over Chile at the MetLife Stadium.
Martinez produced another stunning display for the 2022 World Cup champions, with the Argentina international linking up superbly well with Romero.
Manchester United fans received a massive boost seeing the Argentine complete two full 90-minute matches for his country after his injury-hit spell last season.
Martinez showed his commanding defensive presence for Argentina in the Chile encounter en route to his side reaching the Copa America knockout stages.

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, waxed lyrical about Martinez’s second consecutive performance for Argentina at the tournament.
Red Devils supporters labelled his performance as pure “fire” and reiterated his importance to their team under manager Erik ten Hag.
United fans hailed Martinez as the best ball-playing centre-back in the world, all the while calling him Erik ten Hag’s best signing at Old Trafford.
“My boy Lisandro Martinez was on fire today,” one fan said.
Someone else added: “Lisandro Martinez just needs to be injury-free at that club, he’s the spine they need at the CB role.”
“Lisandro Martinez [is] outright [the] best centre-back in the world. He is on his own,” another posted.
“Lisandro Martinez, what a defender,” a fourth simply tweeted.
A fifth wrote: “Lisandro Martinez is the best ball-playing CB in the world. If he stays healthy next year and we get him a solid partner, then United can make top [four].”
Somebody else commented: “Lisandro Martinez has to be the best ball-playing centre-back in the world currently.”
While a seventh X user suggested: “Lisandro Martinez is easily Ten Hag’s best signing thus far. We’d be so cooked without him.”
