URGENT: Dollar rises to 160 yen for 1st time since late April

The U.S. dollar rose above the 160 yen line Wednesday for the first time since late April on buying amid expectations the interest rate differential between Japan and the United States will remain wide.

The U.S. currency briefly climbed to 160.24 yen on April 29, its highest level in 34 years, before Japanese authorities apparently conducted a yen-buying intervention.
