Kelly Bensimon has decided to do a total 360, ditching her husband-to-be just four days before they were due to tie the knot in his mother’s backyard. The RHONY star is “putting her kids first”.
The Real Housewives of New York City former cast member was all set to become a wife this week. Yet in true Bravo fashion, Kelly decided marriage life was not yet for her in a matter of days ahead of the nuptials.
Kelly Bensimon ditches her husband-to-be
Someone’s got cold feet! Kelly Bensimon decided to call off her wedding to Scott Litner four days before their wedding and is “taking a moment to herself” before talking about the split, her rep told Us Weekly.
“I have decided that my two daughters are my priority and I won’t be moving forward with this wedding,” Kelly said in a statement to Page Six, while politely asking her fans for privacy.
They were set to get married in Boston during an intimate ceremony in Litner’s mother’s backyard. The couple were also planning to host an additional, larger event in the Hamptons.
Kelly is “putting her kids first,” pointing to daughters Sea, 26, and Teddy, 24, who she shares with ex-husband Gilles Bensimon. She’s been planning the ceremony for months – and very publicly.
She told People in December 2023, “When this first started, I was like, ‘I’m going to be so relaxed about this. I’m going to be like, the coolest bride ever.’ But then I started doing it.”
“At this point, I think I might just become a total bridezilla! I just think I could really wear those shoes well,” Bensimon added. The couple announced their engagement in 2023 during a July 4 vacation.
Relationship timeline: Kelly and Scott
The relationship between Kelly and Scott moved quickly. They first got together in August 2022, with their two-year anniversary coming up, but generally kept their relationship private.
Kelly and Scott moved in together in September 2023 after she listed her New York City apartment for rent costing $28K a month. Planning to wed in June this year, everything was happening fast.
She had picked out three wedding dresses from Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City and went on an incredible bachelorette trip with her daughters to Sandals Dunn’s River in Jamaica.
