£9.3m Man Utd player was tipped to emulate Paul Scholes but is now for sale after just 13 appearances

Despite a slow start to the summer transfer window for Manchester United, a great deal of movement can be expected.

With Ineos now firmly in the midst of their first transfer window in charge of Manchester United, expectations are that we will see a slight rebuild of the squad.

It’ll be a long-term process to get the club to where it deserves to be, but Erik ten Hag will be hoping headway is made this summer with exits and arrivals important.

With Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane both departing for free this summer, several others are also unsafe. But now the status of some players who have contracts expiring in 2025 has been revealed with four set to be sold.

Hannibal Mejbri among four players Manchester United could sell this summer

In a bid to clear the squad out, United have now reportedly placed Hannibal Mejbri up for sale this summer.

This is according to a report by Manchester Evening News, Hannibal is one of four players who are out of contract next year and are available for transfer this summer.

He’s joined by Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof on the potential list of exits as Ineos looks to build up the budget.

For Wan-Bissaka and Lindelof in particular exits look nailed on with interest from Turkey in both, along with Everton being keen on the pair as well.

The report also adds that Facundo Pellistri, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay will have their contracts extended by one year if they are still at the club come September, in order to retain their value. Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek will leave for free next summer if he isn’t gone this summer.

Hannibal Mejbri was once tipped to emulate Paul Scholes

Hannibal joined United as a prospect for £9.3m from Monaco, a fee which had many assuming he was destined to be the next big thing in world football.

In 2021, his former coach Reda Bekhti even tipped him to emulate one United legend and raved about the Tunisian international.

“The Premier League requires a lot of athleticism and a strong physical capacity. He can still grow more muscle. If he passes this milestone and does not pick up any injuries, he will win over [Ole Gunnar Solskjaer] I am sure,” he explained to First Time Finish.

“He can become a future Paul Scholes at Manchester United. He has all the qualities in midfield to become a leader.”

This unfortunately isn’t how things have panned out for the 21-year-old midfielder who has made only 13 appearances for United and seems to be at the end of his road at the club after a failed loan at Sevilla.
