The ambassadors of the European Union member states approved a new package of sanctions against Belarus for supporting Russia's war against Ukraine, according to the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council.

On Wednesday, June 26, the EU Committee of Permanent Representatives reached an agreement in principle on a new package of sanctions against the Belarusian regime.

The sanctions are the EU's response to Belarus's support for Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

"This package will strengthen our measures in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, including combating circumvention of sanctions," the statement says.

On Monday, June 24, the Council of Europe officially adopted a new package of sanctions against Russia for its war against Ukraine. This is the 14th package of anti-Russian sanctions since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This time, the EU sanctions list includes Russian actors, singers, propagandists, FSB officers, and the mother of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. Restrictions were also imposed on Russian businesses and the Artek International Children's Center, which has been seized by Russians since the occupation of Crimea.
