The Russian army is not creating offensive groups on the border of the Sumy region, states a source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Russia is not creating offensive groups in the Sumy region. There is still a threat of sabotage and reconnaissance activities and shelling of the border," the source said.
However, according to the source, the enemy continues to keep a certain number of troops on the other side of the border to keep Ukrainian forces on their toes.
The possibility of a Russian offensive in the Sumy region
After the intensification of offensive actions in the Kharkiv region, the Russians began to actively disseminate information about preparations for an offensive in the Sumy region.
Recently, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced the capture of the border village of Ryzhivka in the Sumy region. However, Ukraine denied this statement.
Later, the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that Russian forces are currently attempting to break through the border defenses in the Sumy region, and from time to time sabotage and reconnaissance groups try to get into the region.
However, according to him, the Ukrainian military has already taken all necessary measures to protect the Sumy region from Russian forces.
