4-star WR Tyler Williams commits to Georgia: ‘I fit in perfectly with their coaches and players’

Over 30 schools offered Tyler Williams, but it came down to Georgia, Miami and UCF. The four-star wide receiver out of Riverview (Fla.) Armwood went into his official visit last weekend with the Bulldogs and Hurricanes battling at the top, but after returning home from Athens, he got that feeling about he had been waiting for.

“I was laying in my bed around 1am ET on Tuesday morning and it hit me,” Williams told On3. “I had been thinking and praying on it, and like they say, when you know, you know. A feeling that I had not had before about Georgia hit me. I knew.

“I got up Tuesday morning, I called coach James Coley to give him the news first. He was fired up and excited about it. Then I called coach Kirby Smart. He loved it too and it was a great feeling to be committed to Georgia.”

Georgia was up against two schools in Williams’ home state. Both the Hurricanes and the Knights gave him a lot to think about, but he loves what Georgia has to offer as a program.

“Georgia has that winning culture and they do it like no other schools do. They have a great system, they will get the ball to their playmakers giving them chances to make plays and I will have a chance to be highlighted on special teams early too.

“Georgia is a great program with great resources and great coaches. It is that family environment at Georgia and I fit in perfectly with their coaches and players.”

The culture was big. Williams relating to the players on the official visit factored in. Coley’s relationship carried a lot of weight. Now that the No. 210 prospect in the On300 is committed to Georgia, he is ready to get to work.

“For Georgia, a bad year is losing one game and missing the playoffs. That is how they work. That is the type of program Georgia is. Coach Smart is a proven winner, Georgia is a great program and I like how I will be pushed, compete and earn everything. That is the standard at Georgia and I am excited to be a part of it.”
