Arsenal told 'more realistic' Eddie Nketiah price tag amid Crystal Palace and Wolves interest

Arsenal have now been warned that that they are unlikely to fetch their asking price for out-of-favour striker Eddie Nketiah.

Arsenal are keen to offload Eddie Nketiah in this summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium. At the start of last season, Mikel Arteta seemed to have plenty of faith in the Hale End academy graduate.

He started the Gunners’ first few matches of the Premier League campaign, in the absence of Gabriel Jesus, and chipped in with a couple of goals.

However the goals dried up, and his game time soon dwindled. After the turn of the year, when Kai Havertz established himself as the first choice pick to lead the line for the North London club, Nketiah was reduced to a bit-part role in the squad.

Crystal Palace have shown an interest in signing Nketiah. Wolves have also been linked with a move for the once-capped England international, as reported by Birmingham World.

At this stage in his career, he needs to be playing regular football, and he will not get the opportunity to do that at Arsenal. Nketiah needs a fresh start this summer, and Arteta will be keen to bring in the funds that the forward’s sale would raise.

Arsenal seeking ambitious Eddie Nketiah sale

According to Football.London, Arsenal have now put a £50 million price tag on Nketiah.

There are certainly reasons to believe that the player could generate significant funds. He is relatively young, and has shown that he can score goals at Premier League level, especially when given a run of regular starts.

However, Charles Watts does not believe that the Gunners will be able to sell the attacker at such a high price point.

Speaking on his Inside Arsenal YouTube channel, the reporter said: “I am not underselling Arsenal players… I don’t think £50 million is realistic, to me. I think Arsenal should get good money for Eddie Nketiah, don’t get me wrong. I think he’s a really good striker. I think he’s Premier League proven. Of course, he’s English, he’s still young.

“Arsenal need to be getting, if they do sell Eddie this summer, they need to be getting good money for him. I just think £50 million is perhaps a little bit above the expectation.

“I think if Arsenal get £30-35 million for Eddie Nketiah this summer, I think you have to look at that and think that’s a pretty good amount of money.

“If they can get £50 million, then absolutely fantastic, if someone’s going to pay that. I would be very surprised if a Premier League club puts that sort of money down on the table for Eddie Nketiah. I think £30 million to £35 million is a lot more realistic.”

What is Nketiah doing now?

Nketiah is one of several Arsenal players currently training with Arteta in Marbella.

Whilst he seemingly has no future at the Emirates Stadium, there is a chance that he could work his way back into the manager’s plans if he impresses in pre-season and no suitors come forward with a reasonable offer for his services.
