Former Campbell pitcher Isabella Smith committed to Oklahoma, according to a post on her Instagram.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose” Romans 8:28,” Smith wrote. “All Glory to God for giving me the opportunity to finish my career at The University of Oklahoma! Excited to get to work and see where this journey takes me. BOOMER SOONER!!!”

As a redshirt junior, Smith maintained a 1.56 ERA throughout the season and had a 26-7 record. She started 30 games and made 42 total appearances with 206 innings pitched.

Smith tossed 18 complete games with nine shutouts and two saves. She compiled 239 strikeouts for the 2024 season.

Smith also had a two no-hitters this spring, blanking UNCW and North Carolina A&T. She had productive years at Campbell in 2023 and ’22 after transferring from James Madison.

As a freshman in 2021, Smith did not play in the regular season. She played her high school softball at Raleigh (N.C.) St. David’s School.

Isabella Smith commits to four-time national champions Oklahoma

Smith just adds to the Sooners, who will go to the SEC next season. Oklahoma just won its fourth straight national title under head coach Patty Gasso.

After Oklahoma hoisted its eighth national championship trophy in softball — all won with Gasso at the helm, including seven since 2013 — the head coach shared where she’s at with her coaching career. In short: She’s not going anywhere just yet.

“We have some really outstanding future Sooners on their way. I’m going to be coaching again. Rebuild this program, get it back here hopefully,” Gasso said.

And if she keeps it up, she could be adding a 17th regular season conference championship, a 10th conference tournament championship and a ninth national crown sooner, rather than later.

“I’m really excited,” Gasso said. “They are, too.”
