The A249 will be closed for overnight works as the finishing touches are put on a £92m flyover.
The final preparations needed to open the Stockbury flyover are set to take place during these closures as the project nears completion.
Work began on the scheme in September 2021, aiming to make journeys easier and safer for motorists between Maidstone, Sittingbourne and Sheppey.
National Highways bosses confirmed that the flyover is set to open in July with one lane opening Maidstone-bound on Thursday, July 10 morning.
The following morning a lane will open Sittingbourne bound.
All the closures will be between 8pm and 5am with the first round on Friday, July 5, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7.
During this set of works, the A249 northbound between the Stockbury and Key Street Roundabouts will be shut.
Drivers should use the M2, Hoath Way, A2, Sheppey Way and A249 during the works.
Then on Tuesday, July 9 the A249 Maidstone bound from the Stockbury Roundabout to Church Hill will shut.
During the closure, a diversion will be in place via the M2, A229 Bluebell Hill, M20 and A249.
On Wednesday, July 10 the A249 Maidstone bound from the Bobbing Roundabout to the Stockbury roundabout will be closed.
The diversion routes available are using Sheppey Way, A2, Hoath Way, M2, A229, M20, A249.
The A249 Sittingbourne bound will be closed between Church Hill and the Stockbury Roundabout on Thursday, July 11.
Motorists can divert via M20, A229 Bluebell Hill, M2, A249.
There will be closure signage on the A249 at the M20 junction 7, advising of the diversion route.
Residents on the A249 itself and surrounding villages, please join the A249 as normal.
Non-motorway traffic should use Sheppey Way, A2, A229, A249 when the closures are in place.
National Highways’ improvements have seen the existing Stockbury roundabout replaced with a new interchange, the flyover, to provide free-flowing movement on the A249.
Two new dedicated free-flowing slip roads are also being created with a left turn for traffic travelling from the A249 Maidstone-bound to the M2 London-bound and a left turn from the A249 Sheppey-bound to the M2 coastbound.
