The search for a South Florida paddleboarder who went missing on Monday is ongoing, though his paddleboard and dry bag were found miles offshore, according to US Coast Guard officials.

Luciano Mercenari, 29, was last seen around 5:15 p.m. Monday near Cape Florida on Pines Canal in Key Biscayne.

Mercenari's equipment was found eight to eleven miles offshore between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, thanks to a good samaritan, the US Coast Guard said.

The 29-year-old, who is also an experienced fisherman, was last seen on an aqua and orange paddleboard and wearing a light gray long-sleeved "reef cheefs" rash guard with gray sports shorts.

Mercenari is 6'2, roughly 200 pounds, with dark brown hair and a beard.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the police.
