US Embassy in Ukraine confirms death of attaché at Kyiv's Hilton Hotel

The body of the US Embassy attaché in Ukraine was indeed found in one of the rooms of the Hilton Hotel in Kyiv yesterday, June 25.

The information about the attaché's death was confirmed to RBC-Ukraine by the US Embassy in Kyiv.

"We can confirm the death of a US government official under the direction of the mission chief at the Embassy in Kyiv. The State Department expresses its deepest condolences to the family and close ones of our colleague," the embassy stated.

At the same time, they declined to comment on the death of their employee, citing privacy concerns.

What preceded

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine learned from its own sources that the body of the US Embassy attaché in Ukraine was found in one of the rooms of the Hilton Hotel in Kyiv. The man arrived in Ukraine on June 15, and it was also reported that he allegedly had high cholesterol levels.

Attack on a US Embassy guard

On June 16th, it became known through the media that a group of teenagers attacked a foreigner in one of the supermarkets in Kyiv. They sprayed a gas canister into his face.

According to RBC-Ukraine's source in the law enforcement agencies, an employee of the Security Service of the US Embassy was attacked at that time.
