Everton have been one of the busiest teams this early in the summer, but they have a battle on their hands to keep some of their squad.
The Toffees have signed Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa whilst also allowing Lewis Dobbin to move in the opposite direction.
They have also rejected an offer from Manchester United for Jarrad Branthwaite and from Newcastle for Daniel Calvert-Lewin, but neither of the offers matched Everton’s asking price.
Lyon and Atalanta make bids for Ben Godfrey
Now another member of Sean Dyche‘s squad is wanted, and HITC can confirm the club have received multiple bids for defender Ben Godfrey.
HITC can reveal that Serie A outfit Atalanta and French giants Lyon have both submitted offers worth in the region of £10million – but that will not be enough to land him.
Goodison Park sources suggest that Everton would need to bring in around £15million before allowing him to leave, which would be reluctantly.
Everton’s hierarchy want Godfrey to stay and have offered the England international a new contract – however, the player has never been a regular under Sean Dyche and has no plans to commit himself to the club under the current regime.
Everton ready to sell Godfrey who has refused new deal
Now, with just 12-months left on his deal, and like with Calvert-Lewin, Everton accept that they are likely to have to sell this summer and not allow him to leave next summer for nothing.
HITC is told that Atalanta, who would like Godfrey to line-up next to former Everton starlet Ademola Lookman, and Lyon are both ready to make improved bids.
HITC also understands that a number of Premier League clubs are watching Godfrey’s situation as they consider making a move. Both Newcastle and Tottenham held talks with Everton in January, and both are still in the market for a defender this summer.
