Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody's Office of Statewide Prosecution (OSP) secured a second 30-year prison sentence today in connection with the Amore Pools fraud case.
Chrystal Washburn, co-owner of Amore Pools, was sentenced by Judge Dan L. Vaughn of the 19th Judicial Circuit for defrauding Florida homeowners out of over $1.2 million.
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation, Washburn and her husband, Brian Washburn (previously sentenced in June 2024), ran a multi-million dollar pool contracting scheme.

The couple obtained deposits and upfront payments from homeowners for pool installations but frequently abandoned projects before completion. These unfinished projects often left behind hazardous debris piles and gaping holes in backyards.
“This couple promised to deliver dream pools, but left holes in Floridians’ hearts and backyards, by abandoning pool projects and stealing more than $1.2 million in cash. Thanks to our Statewide Prosecutors, Chrystal Washburn, the owner of this pool company, will now serve 30 years in prison for operating this scheme," said Moody.
The investigation revealed Chrystal Washburn obtained her contractor's license fraudulently and lacked experience in the pool industry. The couple allegedly used a third-party check cashing service to convert stolen deposits into cash.

Chrystal Washburn's sentencing follows Brian Washburn's conviction on nine felony counts, including organized scheme to defraud, money laundering, and grand theft. Both Washburns received 30-year sentences.
