Former President Donald Trump's possibly ill-advised decision to tout his jail mugshot among the reasons his support has "skyrocketed" among the Black and Hispanic communities was met with a deluge of derision and scorn Wednesday.

The MAGA leader famously became the first former president to have his mugshot taken upon being booked into the Fulton County Jail in Georgia, where he's charged with trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the state.

That mugshot re-appeared Wednesday, with Trump bragging about the picture to a panel at a Black barbershop in Atlanta.

"Since this has happened — the mugshot — the mugshot is the best ev- it just beat Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra by a lot by the way, beat 'em by a lot," the former president touted over the phone as V.P. hopeful Rep. Byron Donalds, who is Black, sat at the roundtable. "But that's the number one mugshot of all time. It's really an amazing thing. Since it happened, the support among the Black community and the Hispanic community has skyrocketed. It's been amazing. Really it's been amazing. It's been actually very nice to see."

He added: "In one way, you say, 'gee isn't that too bad?' But the truth is it's really a lovely thing when I see that, we have great support now in the Black community and in the Hispanic community."

The clip garnered swift reaction from social media.

"Trump sent his 'black friend' lying Byron Donalds to Atlanta," cartoonist and satirist @JustVent6 wrote on X, "so that he can call into a black barbershop and tell them how he has the number 1 mug shot of all time and now he has something in common with black folks! [woozy face emoji]"

He added: "He says “it’s really been a great thing” for him!

These black dudes sat there and allowed themselves to be used by Mr. Jim Crow and the Rapist! "

In response, @celistar99 wrote: "I wonder how the Black and Hispanic community feels about his promise to give police officers immunity?"

Others joined in the chorus lambasting the former president.
