Travis Kelce says it has been 'fun' seeing new teammate strike up 'immediate' connection with Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs could make history in 2024 and achieve an unprecedented feat in the NFL.

After an up-and-down but winning season, Kansas City positioned itself in the off-season in order to mould the best possible squad around Patrick Mahomes.

It’s not often that a team has the chance to win a third consecutive Super Bowl. Brett Veach and the entire organisation are united in their desire to cement the league’s new dynasty after the New England Patriots’ came to an end.

Winning the SB in New Orleans in 2025 will boost the Baby Goat’s chances of taking over from Tom Brady. Mahomes will have won four titles to TB12’s seven, but the defending champion still has plenty of gas left in the tank and a thirst to win.

KC is confident for the three-peat

The offseason has made it clear that the Chiefs will do everything possible to achieve their goal and will avoid the problems that have occurred in recent years.

What’s more, KC has kept all his stars in the squad, as if each unit had a big name to take charge of and take responsibility for. Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones…

The tight end gave an interview to the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, in which he truly commented on his expectations for this season.

“I think right now we got the focus and the team to be able to do it,” said. “We got a lot of fun pieces added. Hollywood Brown, seeing him run around this season has been so ____ng fun. Him and Pat [Mahomes] have a connection, immediately.”

Hollywood Brown arrived in the squad to bring back the spark that was missing in the passing game: his speed is what the quarterback needed to get back the taste for throwing deep.

Travis Kelce still gets his heart racing when it comes to American football

Kelce was asked by Will Compton, one of the hosts, if he still feels the same fire for the game.

“F*** yeah,” Kelce confidently claimed. “Dude, I love that s***.”

At 34, the TE is aware that he doesn’t have many years left, but the hype of making history outweighs any age obstacles.

“Nobody gets that chance [of having a three-peat]. Your desire to come into work every day just kinda went up a notch.”

He then added: “You want it more than you’ve been coming into the building in recent years just because you have an opportunity to be one of the greatest – if not the greatest – dynasties that’s ever been played on the gridiron.”

Andy Reid reinvents himself every year

The Chiefs star also made a point of crediting Andy Reid’s presence and mindset in the process.

“Coach Reid every single year has these like note cards just ____ing plays. He’s just like cooking them up in that ____ing office and he’s just cooking them up, dude.”

Kelce revived Jamal Charles, a former KC running back who left an important legacy on the team.

“It’s been fun to see how the offense has grown throughout the years because when I first came into the league, it was Jamal Charles. Give Jamal the ball. We’re inside zone, outside, zone screen to Jamal motion him outside, do a little slant to him.”

A few years ago, the offense was built around a RB, while now Mahomes is the main character who makes things happen with and for all the other players.

“He was like, all focused on Jamal and now it’s like started to get to the point where it’s all focused on Pat and everything that he can do and now everybody gets involved. It’s been crazy.”
