On3 top-100 IOL Max Buchanan commits to Miami

Max Buchanan

Sanford (Fla.) Seminole four-star offensive lineman Max Buchanan considered in-state programs Florida State and UCF. He gave a long look to Ole Miss, Clemson and Penn State.

But ultimately, he found his future home in Coral Gables with the Miami Hurricanes. And on Wednesday, he announced his commitment to Mario Cristobal and Co.

“I chose Miami for the coaching that I can receive at every position on the offensive line,” he told On3.

The 6-foot-4, 279-pounder visited each of the six aforementioned programs this spring and summer. But the ‘Canes had set the bar high coming into those visits and only impressed him more when he was in town earlier this month.

The connections he built with not only Cristobal, but offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and the rest of the staff were unmatched. He feels comfortable in their system and believes they can best develop him for the next level.

“The fact that I have an amazing relationship not only with the O-line coaches but the head coach and all the position coaches as well [was a big deal],” he added.

On top of that, he loves the campus, the city of Miami and the opportunities available to him for his life after football.

“I like the perks about living in the city of Miami and the business opportunities I can have if I pursue them,” he said.

Buchanan adds to a strong class brewing for the ‘Canes

On3 ranks the trench mauler as the No. 95 overall prospect and No. 7 interior lineman in the 2025 class, as well as the No. 14 recruit in the state of Florida.

Buchanan is the Hurricanes’ 12th commitment in the cycle and their eighth from the Sunshine State.

He joins a group headlined by Tampa (Fla.) Armwood four-star running back Girard Pringle, Kissimmee (Fla.) four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez, and Milton (Ga.) four-star passer Luke Nickel.

He’s also the fourth offensive line pledge for Cristobal and Co., along with three-stars Jaden Wilkerson, Takaylen Muex and Demetrius Campbell, all of whom have committed in the past six weeks.
