Baseball: Ohtani blasts 25th homer, sets Dodgers' RBI streak record

Shohei Ohtani crushed a leadoff home run for the second day in a row Wednesday as he sparked the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-0 win over the Chicago White Sox and set a franchise record of 10 consecutive games with at least one RBI.

The Japanese superstar helped the visiting Dodgers win their fourth straight game and complete a three-game series sweep at Chicago's Guaranteed Rate Field with his National League-leading 25th home run.

He sent a 3-2 cutter from Chicago starter Erick Fedde (5-3) 437 feet over right-center field to become the first Dodger with a double-digit RBI streak since it became an official statistic in 1920.

Right-hander Gavin Stone (9-2) threw the first complete-game shutout by a Dodger rookie since 2013 as he struck out seven and allowed just four hits and no walks.

The NL West-leading Dodgers are 8-2 over their last 10 games as they head into a three-game series at the San Francisco Giants from Friday.

"We're getting into the swing of the season," Ohtani said. "As we make various improvements, it feels easier to develop that momentum. It will be good if we can continue it while keeping focused on our ultimate goal."

Ohtani also drew a pair of walks as he went 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
