Exclusive - Manchester United make Marcus Rashford decision on his future as Paris Saint-Germain ready fresh move

HITC understands that Manchester United are ready to let Marcus Rashford leave the club this summer with French giants Paris Saint-Germain poised to rekindle their interest in him.

Rashford has endured a tough last 12-moths after producing one of the least productive campaigns of his career, which culminated with him missing out on a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Rashford became United’s top earner in 2023 when he signed a bumper new contract which followed on from the best season of his career but the drop off since then has been spectacular.

Man United ‘bewildered’ by Marcus Rashford’s loss of form

Recognised as one of the senior squad members and a figurehead having come through the club’s academy, HITC is told that United have been left bewildered as Rashford’s loss of form.

Rashford has also been central to a number of off-field last season which forced Erik Ten Hag to make major decisions.

There was an incident in October when Rashford visited a Manchester nightclub, just hours after their 3-0 derby loss to Manchester City. At that time Ten Hag revealed his annoyance at the situation.

“I spoke with him about it. It is unacceptable…he apologised,” the Dutchman said, but unfortunately that was not the only Rashford issue Ten Hag was forced to tackle.

On the eve of their FA Cup clash at Newport County, Rashford was forced out of the game despite being seen in Belfast in the days leading up to the match in South Wales.

HITC is told other issues arose with Rashford during the season, but they were dealt with by Ten Hag. The way he handled Rashford was one of the key points as to why INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe decided to keep him, they appreciate the squad being managed in an appropriate but disciplined manner.

Although helping Ten Hag to lift the FA Cup at the end of the season – HITC is told that the strained relationship between Ten Hag and Rashford, has led United to the belief that a parting of the ways could be the right thing for all parties.

Paris Saint-Germain ready to launch new bid for Rashford

To that point, HITC is also told that Rashford off-field behaviour and on-field form were a huge area of concern to the club’s new footballing department and he was one of the subjects of the recent end of season review.

The futures of Ten Hag and captain Bruno Fernandes were also on the agenda and it was deemed both of them were key to United going forward – however, the same can’t be said of Rashford.

Sources have confirmed to HITC that United have made it clear to intermediaries, involved with Rashford, that they would not stand in his way if sufficient interest was shown in.

And we are also informed that French giants PSG are once again keen on Rashford. They showed an interest last summer and thought they were close to getting him, before he opted to sign a new deal at Old Trafford.

But now the situation is much different as sources have told HITC that Rashford is open to the prospect of moving to the French capital. He was linked with the Saudi Pro League, but we understand that does not appeal.

PSG are now ready to make a move – but only if they continue to receive sufficient encouragement from United and Rashford, and it stands there is nothing to suggest either side would put a break on any prospective move.

Whilst Rashford’s wages of around £300,000-a-week would be an issue to most clubs, PSG are one of the few – who could put together a suitable deal.
