The offseason is officially here in college baseball. Tennessee won the National Championship, winning Game 3 of the College World Series championship series in Omaha on Monday. With the season now over and a lot of changes across the nation, college baseball’s transfer portal has seen some significant entries.
Of course, the biggest story of the week has been Jim Schlossnagle leaving Texas A&M to become the new head coach at Texas. It didn’t take long for the portal to start filling up with Texas A&M stars.
In our latest college baseball transfer portal rankings, three Texas A&M transfers enter the top ten, including the top two spots. Overall, five new players cracked our top ten compared to last week’s rankings.
Players have until July 2 to enter the transfer portal. There will surely be more notable names to enter in the next week, while the players already in continue to search for their new home.
1. Jace LaViolette, OF, Texas A&M

Class: Sophomore
2024 Stats: .305 AVG, 29 HR, 78 RBI, 16 doubles, 1.175 OPS
When news broke about Jim Schlossnagle heading to Texas, attention immediately turned to what Jace LaViolette would do. Now he is in the portal, and becomes the top player to enter so far. LaViolette is an incredible hitter and is a contender to become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. He is going to be heavily coveted by just about everybody.
2. Gavin Grahovac, 3B, Texas A&M

Class: Freshman
2024 Stats: .298 AVG, 23 HR, 66 RBI, 16 doubles, .987 OPS
Gavin Grahovac is right there at the top of our college baseball power rankings as well. In his freshman season at Texas A&M, he hit just a hair under .300 with 23 home runs and 66 RBI. He has room to improve as well, and is likely to be one of college baseball’s best players next season. Grahovac was named the SEC Freshman of the Year this season.
3. Gavin Kash, 1B, Texas Tech

Class: Junior
2024 Stats: .300 AVG, 15 HR, 51 RBI, 17 doubles
This is the second time that Gavin Kash has entered college baseball’s transfer portal, and he’s still undoubtedly one of the top players available this time around. Though he wasn’t as productive as he was in 2023 where he hit .326 with 26 home runs, he still had a good year in 2024 hitting .300 with 15 home runs and 51 RBI. In his two years at Texas Tech, Kash hit .313 with 41 home runs.
4. Zach Root, LHP, East Carolina

Class: Sophomore
2024 Stats: 13 appearances (12 starts), 68.1 innings, 3.56 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 76 strikeouts, 21 walks
When it comes to pitching, it’s tough to look past Zach Root in this year’s cycle. After splitting time between the bullpen and rotation as a freshman in 2023, Root entered the ECU rotation as the Saturday starter this year and broke out. He was 6-2 on the year and was lights out at the start of the year. Root did miss time down the stretch, but he returned in the postseason. With possible first-round MLB Draft potential, Root is heavily coveted on the transfer market right now.
5. Gavin Kilen, SS, Louisville

Class: Sophomore
2024 Stats: .330 AVG, 9 HR, 41 RBI, 23 doubles
Former Louisville shortstop Gavin Kilen is one of the most proven shortstops available in the portal so far. After hitting .265 as a freshman in 2023, he took a massive step forward in 2024 hitting .330 with 9 homers and 41 RBI. He struck out just 22 times in 215 at-bats. Kilen has shown that he can produce in the ACC, and he will have a long line of suitors in the portal.
6. Blake Cyr, LF/2B, Miami
Transfer Destination: Florida
Class: Sophomore
2024 Stats: .284 AVG, 7 HR, 21 RBI
Blake Cyr remains our highest-rated transfer in college baseball to have already found a home through the portal. He is staying in-state, going from Miami to Florida. 2023 was Cyr’s big year, as he hit .305 with a 1.047 OPS, 17 home runs, 12 doubles and 63 RBI as a freshman. He missed significant time this season due to injury, and hit .284 with seven home runs and 21 RBI. Still, he has shown he can produce at a high level and he’ll look to return to that level with the Gators.
7. Landon Beidelschies, LHP, Ohio State
Transfer Destination: Arkansas
Class: Sophomore
2024 Stats: 15 appearances (all starts), 84.2 innings, 4.15 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 91 strikeouts, 31 walks
After pitching mostly out of the bullpen as a freshman in 2023, Landon Beidelschies became an anchor in Ohio State’s rotation in 2024. He tossed over 80 innings with 91 strikeouts, and opponents hit .231 against him. He also tallied seven saves as a freshman in 2023, and he is likely to become a key piece of someone’s rotation next season. Beidelschies has committed to play at Arkansas next season.
8. Luke Gaffney, 1B/C, Purdue

Class: Freshman
2024 Stats: .359 AVG, 13 HR, 64 RBI, 15 doubles
Luke Gaffney was the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Year in 2024, and he then hit the transfer portal. In his freshman campaign, he hit .349 with 13 home runs, 65 RBI, 15 doubles and an OPS of 1.065. After becoming one of the most sought after players in college baseball’s transfer portal, Gaffney committed to Clemson on Wednesday.
9. Grant Knipp, C, Campbell
Transfer Destination: TBD
Class: Junior
2024 Stats: .402 AVG, 18 HR, 46 RBI
Grant Knipp probably won’t be playing college baseball next season, but crazier things have happened. He is in the transfer portal following Justin Haire’s decision to leave Campbell to become Ohio State’s next coach. Knipp is a tremendous hitter, and slugged 18 home runs this season while hitting .402. His OPS is eye-opening at 1.576. Knipp also made a few appearances on the mound, pitching to a 1.59 ERA in 5.2 innings. He has a very powerful fastball, one that has opened eyes at the MLB scouting combine. He is likely to be drafted and go pro, but if he’s not, he’s going to make one team very happy next season.
10. Hayden Schott, OF, Texas A&M
Transfer Destination: TBD
Class: Graduate Student
2024 Stats: .333 AVG, 8 HR, 63 RBI, 15 doubles
Hayden Schott spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Columbia, but transferred to Texas A&M in 2024 and made a major impact. He hit .333 on the year with eight homers, 63 RBI and 15 doubles. Schott had an incredible postseason, and finishe the season with a .913 OPS. He has one more season eligibility. Schott cracks the top ten, just barely getting the edge over teammate Caden Sorrell.
