'I have never said...': Kieran Dewsbury-Hall drops hint on Leicester City future amid rival transfer interest

Leicester City fans know that keeping Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is vital to their chances of Premier League survival next season.

Having won the Championship under Enzo Maresca to secure promotion, Leicester City will enter the new season with Steve Cooper at the helm.

With Maresca departing to take the vacant managerial job at Chelsea it left Leicester facing an uphill battle before pre-season has even started.

That is before you even consider the club’s financial woes, with a current appeal against a breach of Premier League spending rules ongoing as well as having to try and get their finances in order ahead of the next PSR deadline on 30th June.

It’s a turbulent time at Leicester despite promotion and it is these money troubles that have led to fears the club will have to sell star man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer.

With the likes of Brighton and Brentford expressing interest, the player himself has finally spoken on his future.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall ‘happy’ at Leicester City but insists ‘you never know’

Dewsbury-Hall is a boyhood Leicester fan who has progressed through the ranks to now arguably be the best player at the club at 25.

The midfielder was impressive last season as he registered 26 goal contributions en route to the Championship title and Leicester’s survival chances will be pinned heavily on keeping him at the club.

However, he is also the club’s most valuable asset and, being from the academy, any sale would represent pure profit in accounting terms; which makes him the most likely to depart of the need for funds becomes desperate.

Now, Dewsbury-Hall has spoken on his future, as he told BBC Sport: “I have been here since I was a kid.

“I love everything about the club. I grew up and managed to play in the first team. I am happy.

“I have never said I am actively wanting to leave. That sort of stuff is not up to me. You never know with football – the season is about to start, so we will see.”

Dewsbury-Hall comments only add to speculation he could leave Leicester

Whilst it is reassuring to hear Dewsbury-Hall to say he is happy at the Foxes, his comments will be of little comfort to Leicester fans.

The former Luton Town loanee has hinted that an exit could be on the cards whether he wants it or not and, given Leicester will not have much money to spend this summer, this could be fatal to their chances of staying in the Premier League.

Even if they get past the PSR deadline unscathed, it could be a long summer of speculation for Leicester with Dewsbury-Hall not short of suitors.
