Front Row Motorsports acquired a third charter for the 2025 Cup Series Series season, and several drivers are considered strong candidates. Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports projected who will drive the third car, and four drivers are considered to be in the running.

“FRM likely will need drivers with some sponsorship.Noah Gragson, Josh Berry, Xfinity driver Sam Mayer and truck series driver Christian Eckes are expected candidates,” Pockrass wrote. “Gragson is a favorite to land one of the open FRM rides.”

Pockrass also mentioned the candidates are also being considered for the No. 34 car that Michael McDowell currently drives. In May, McDowell announced he would leave Front Row Motorsports at the end of the 2024 season as he signed a multi-year contract with Spire Motorsports.

“This is a new chapter for my family and me, and we’re incredibly thankful for the opportunity that’s in front of us,” McDowell said in a release, per Jayski’s Silly Season Site.“It’s going to take some hard work, but I feel like everything is in place for us to be successful as a race team — to win races and contend for championships. People are the greatest asset to any organization, and with Spire’s vision, ambition, knowledge, and dedication, we will achieve great things. Failure is not an option, and that’s the mindset that it will take to achieve our goals.”

Front Row Motorsports looking forward to having a third charter

It was announced last month that Front Row Motorsports will have a third chartered car for the first time since the 2019 season. “It is good to get the news out now as we have a lot of work to do to prepare a new team,” Jerry Freeze, FRM’s general manager, said in a news release from the team. “All of us on the leadership team will be working through that, obtaining the parts and pieces needed for the new team. And, most importantly, adding to the dedicated and talented staff and culture that exists today within our organization.

“Starting a new team from scratch is always a challenge, but with the opportunities in front of us, the talent we have in our leadership, and a bit of a runway to get there, I am confident that we can produce three competitive programs out of the box for the 2025 season. We haven’t lost sight of what our goals for 2024 are, to get our teams into the playoffs for both series. If we can keep up the speed on track and have a little bit of luck to come our way, we can achieve our objectives.”
