Ukraine and Slovenia may sign a bilateral agreement on security guarantees in July, according to the Prime Minister of Slovenia Robert Golob.
Golob reported that he held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Brussels.
According to him, the main part of the conversation focused on the results of the Global Peace Summit and negotiations on a bilateral security agreement.
The Slovenian Prime Minister noted that his country cannot offer what larger countries can, but it can help find a path to peace.
Golob also said that at this stage, the talks are focused mainly on the fact that the Ukrainian party wants more concrete commitments from Slovenia, in particular in terms of financial assistance for reconstruction.
He said that Slovenia is currently waiting for official proposals from Kyiv to supplement the draft agreement.
The Prime Minister indicated that the most likely scenario is that the bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and Slovenia will be signed in July, and he will meet with Zelenskyy again by the end of July.
Security guarantees
Recently, Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar announced that Slovenia and Ukraine would sign a security guarantees agreement, most likely on Thursday, June 27, which is today. However, this did not happen.
Ukraine has signed security agreements with 19 partner countries so far.
Today, Ukraine signed security guarantees with the European Union, Estonia, and Lithuania.
