Following his recent breakout season at North Carolina, forward Harrison Ingram will now officially take his game to the next level. Selected with the No. 48 overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs.

Ingram started off his college career at Stanford, spending two seasons with the Cardinal where he burst onto the scene in his true freshman year. Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and an All-Conference Honorable Mention after averaging 10.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. Also named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week six times (second most in conference history).

He’d go on to average 10.5 points per game again in his sophomore season before deciding to transfer to North Carolina ahead of the 2023-2024 college basketball season. Having a career year for the Tar Heels averaging 12.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game (all career highs).

The 6-foot-7 forward led the ACC in rebounding during conference play despite sharing the court with the program’s all-time rebounding leader Armando Bacot. Ending the season with 11 double-doubles along with five 20-point scoring outings and three games with 17 or more boards.

Ingram played high school basketball at St. Mark’s in Dallas (TX) where he was a four-star prospect ranked the No. 23 overall prospect and the No. 6 small forward for the 2021 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

What NBA Draft experts are saying about Harrison Ingram

Ingram took a major leap as a junior and flourished for North Carolina last season, providing the Tar Heels with a high energy, high motor force on both ends of the floor that served as a spark throughout the year. Also flashing the ability to get hot and score from beyond the arc on occasion with the skillset that On3 NBA draft expert James Fletcher believes can translate to the next level.

“Harrison Ingram’s big season at North Carolina helped showcase more than his talent level, but also his NBA intangibles,” Fletcher said. “The former five-star recruit made an impact on both ends of the floor and filled a role. Shooting 38.5 from 3 while grabbing 8.8 rebounds from the wing translates well in any system. He raised his offensive rating by 13 points in the same season his defensive rating dropped 6 points.”

“Ingram is a player likely to come off the board at some point during the second round, but could rise if he impresses in workouts.”
