A man was injured by multiple gunshots on Thursday evening in the western German city of Dortmund, according to police.
A witness alerted emergency services to the sound of gunfire in Dortmund's central Mitte district, the report said.
The police said that shortly afterwards, two individuals, likely men, fled in a car in an unknown direction.
The injured man was taken to hospital. A homicide squad has started an investigation.
