The Lufthansa Group has appointed Jens Fehlinger as the new head of its subsidiary SWISS, Switzerland's flag carrier airline.

The 43-year-old aeronautical engineer has been with the Lufthansa Group since 2006.

Fehlinger, who headed the crisis management office during the Covid-19 pandemic, most recently established the new regional airline City Airlines as managing director.

He is set to take over SWISS on October 1, the company announced on Friday.

His predecessor, Dieter Vranckx, will take up a position on the group's executive board.
