Liverpool told there’s a ‘very special’ player at Euro 2024 who’s ready to join them

Liverpool will be watching on with interest during the knockout rounds of Euro 2024.

The Reds still have seven players involved in the competition, all of whom will harbour hope of glory next month.

However, Liverpool are likely to be keeping an eye on goings on for another reason, too: transfers. There are a number of potential targets for Arne Slot still playing over in Germany.

Most of those will be players who Liverpool fans are already aware of. Riccardo Calafiori, for example, has been heavily linked while Nico Williams is another said to be on the radar.

Aside from those who the Reds will have been tracking for a while though, there are others who are really breaking out this summer. Liverpool should be keeping across it all.

Liverpool sent Baris Alper Yilmaz message

Usually it turns out to have been a bad idea when clubs sign players on the back of performances at tournaments.

Liverpool know this very well having been stung with both El Hadji Diouf and – to a lesser extent – Salif Diao after the 2002 World Cup.

The Reds are a little more sophisticated with their transfer workings these days, as Jamie Carragher has pointed out on Friday.

Nevertheless, a good showing on a big international stage can still help to tip the balance for a new addition. And according to Gazientep manager Selcuk Inan, Liverpool should be taking note of Turkey’s Baris Alper Yilmaz this summer.

I think Baris Alper Yilmaz can play very comfortably for many teams in the Premier League at the moment,” Inan, who worked with Yilmaz at Galatasary, says via Milli Gazete.

“He’s a very special player. We worked a lot together.

“If Baris Alper improves himself in the finalization part, he can easily play in the best clubs in the world such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Arsenal.

“He’s a player with a lot of potential. Hopefully, he will get that chance and represent us.”

Who is Baris Alper Yilmaz?

Yilmaz has indeed been catching the eye at the Euros. The 24-year-old won the man of the match award as Turkey beat the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

A skilful right winger, Yilmaz has started all three of his country’s games so far and will surely be a key player in the knockout rounds, too.

At club level, the Turkey international plays for Galatasaray, for whom he scored seven goals during their title-winning campaign last season.

As Inan points out, that kind of goal-scoring record would have to improve for Yilmaz to make the step to a club like Liverpool.

Nevertheless, he’ll certainly be one to watch out for when the next round of the tournament gets underway.
