While BJ Mack’s days at South Carolina may have come to an end, the former the Gamecock is excited about the future of his former team. Especially when it comes to the potential of rising sophomore Collin Murray-Boyles.
“Woo. I don’t even think there’s a ceiling for Collin, to be honest,” Mack told GamecockCentral. “He was showing glimpse and glamours of what he could do throughout the year last year. It just sucks that we didn’t have him for a full whole year for him to really be able to showcase what he was doing in the preseason.”

Named to the SEC All-Freshman Team this past season, Murray-Boyles averaged 10.4 points per game in 28 games played. Starting in 19 games, he scored in double-digits in 11 of his final 13 games of the season. That included a career-high 31 points against Vanderbilt on February 10.
With the team staying active this summer, Mack says the early reports on not just CMB but the team as a whole are looking good.
“Ta’Lon (Cooper) was down on campus two weeks ago and he was saying that Collin is shooting the ball way better than what he (was at) first. (He also said that) Zach(ary) Davis was coming into his own and Jacobi (Wright) is being a great leader for them. It just shows that the guys are working and that this year is gonna be another special year.”

Despite losing several key starters, Mack is confident that South Carolina can build off of their program tying win total form last season. Especially with the healthy blend of both new and familiar faces who will be on the roster this season.
“I think they’re gonna do great this year, I really do. I think what we did this (past) year really laid down the foundation. You have a great group of guys coming in and guys who stayed from last year… Being able to have that I feel like it’s gonna just be another stepping stone to be able to push further in the tournament.”
