Former Missouri guard Sean East is westbound. Following the 2024 NBA Draft, East reportedly inked an Exhibit 10 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress tweeted out Sunday evening that East had signed with the Lakers: “Missouri’s Sean East II has agreed to an Exhibit-10 deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, I’m told,” said Chepkevich, adding:

“The 6’2 ½” combo guard averaged 17.6 PTS, 4.0 AST, 3.5 REB on a 63.0 TS% this season. Led the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in points + earned a G League Elite Camp nod.”

The Louisville, KY native now completes his journey from the Junior College ranks to the NBA following a great 2024 season. And Tigers fans know well, it was not easy to produce on this past year’s Mizzou squad.

Following a very promising first season under head coach Dennis Gates that resulted in an NCAA Tournament appearance, the Tigers submarined remarkably in 2024, winning just 25% of their total games while finishing 0-19 in their SEC contests. Not an easy spot for East, but he thrived nonetheless.

You might think the lead scorer on an 8-24 basketball team has poor shooting numbers, but East was actually incredibly efficient, shooting 45% from 3 and 54% from inside the arc — both above-average figures — all while scoring at high volume for a team with very few other options.

Now, the journey continues for East, who must be excited about joining a historic franchise like the Lakers.
