Aston Villa receive offer from two Champions League outfits for ‘special’ youngster admin heavy speculation

Aston’s Villa’s Jhon Duran could end up moving elsewhere despite the Chelsea’s bid as Champions League club’s enter the race.

With the summer transfer window well underway, Villa are wasting no time getting their business done.

With Lewis Dobbin through the door, and many more expected to join him, two stars are thought to be on the way out.

The main player is Douglas Luiz, who looks all but certain to move to Juventus over the next few days. However, another star who is expected to leave the Villa squad is Duran.

The striker played an important role in helping Villa Park return to the Champions League for the 2024/25 campaign with Emery labelling Duran as ‘special’.

However, Chelsea have chased him throughout June and looked to be acquiring his services. Yet, despite an agreement being reached, it is believed that the move is now on ‘stand by’ giving way for two other clubs to begin chase.

Duran’s proposed moved to Chelsea has hit plenty of stumbling blocks. Firstly, the capital side had doubts over the Colombian’s attitude and wage demands.

This was then soon followed up by Chelsea being ‘put off’ by Villa’s £40 million asking price and Duran’s impatience for game time.

According to journalist Guillermo Arango, the transfer between the two clubs has ‘been put on standby’. It is claimed that new coach Enzo Maresca wants a forward with other characteristics.

However, Duran may still find another club this window. It was also stated that AC Milan and Bologna, who are both in the Champions league this season, have put offers in for the striker.

Despite wanting £40 million for Duran this summer, Villa should allow some wriggleroom in their asking price.

With the Champions League approaching this season, acquiring a formidable backup to Ollie Watkins could prove to be the difference for Unai Emery’s side.

With £35 million, the Birmingham outfit could buy three fantastic bargains while losing a player they will likely not miss.

AC Milan or Bologna will likely be the preferred destination for Villa as they are outside the Premier League. However, they must come to a final agreement with the two clubs or risk this saga lasting the window.
