Union Berlin have signed Slovakia's Euro 2024 midfielder international Laszlo Benes from second tier SV Hamburg.

The 26-year-old has moved on undisclosed terms.

"With Laszlo, we are gaining a versatile midfielder who can create chances time and again with his set pieces, among other things," new Union head of football Horst Heldt said in a statement on Friday.

Benes is currently with his national team in Germany at the European Championship and on Sunday they face England in the round of 16.

According to Hamburg, where Benes played for two years, the former Borussia Mönchengladbach man is making use of an exit clause in his contract.
