Drew Rosenhaus: Free agent OL Connor Williams had ‘miraculous’ recovery from ACL injury

Connor Williams, the former Cowboy and Dolphins starting offensive lineman, is healthy enough from a knee injury that he could be ready to play by training camp.

That’s according to Williams’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who gave a glowing update on behalf of his client.

“Connor has had a remarkable recovery, nothing short of miraculous,” Rosenhaus said in an interview with WSVN. “Really looking good for the start of the season. There’s a lot of teams interested in him. But I’m just delighted for Connor. Did not anticipate him going to training camp with the team and felt like it might be something during the season before he played, but now he’s done an awesome job and we’re gonna see Connor Williams in someone’s training camp.”

At the moment, Connor Williams doesn’t have a team, whether he’s healthy or not. Rosenhaus said his client would be open to returning to the Dolphins. But he said it’s unlikely. Miami acted as if Williams isn’t coming back since they signed Aaron Brewer, the former Titans center, during free agency.

In addition, Rosenhaus said that Williams wants to stay at center. Williams was an All-American offensive tackle when he played for the Texas Longhorns. The Cowboys selected Williams, who grew up outside Dallas, in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Cowboys then moved Williams into the starting lineup as a guard.

In 2022, Connor Williams signed a two-year $14,035,000 million contract with the Dolphins. The agreement was up at the end of the 2023 season.

Williams was a natural center. But a knee injury in week 14 detailed is 2023 season. The Dolphins placed him on injured reserve Dec. 13 after doctors diagnosed him with a torn ACL. Usually, recovery from that kind of injury can take up to a year. So many folks around the NFL assumed Williams wouldn’t be ready to start the season.

Rosenhaus, in interviews earlier this year, said his client would take a “methodical” approach to his rehab from a “significant” knee injury.
