Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons responded Friday to teammate Malik Hooker after the safety called him out for potentially caring more about his podcast than “the success of our team.”
Hooker made the comments on the “All Facts No Brakes with Keyshawn Johnson Podcast,” which bothered Parsons, who wishes Hooker would have aired his criticism to him directly.
“Just wish you said this to me but instead on some podcast!” Parsons wrote on X. “And you got my number family! @MalikHooker24 and you my locker mate! So you coulda said this any day! And you do realize I shoot the podcast on our off day! I why ain’t we talking about everyone preparations and focus leading up to the game week? I mean I can point out a lot of other things but I’m just not!”
Parsons, the three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, started doing his “The Edge” podcast this past season in collaboration with Bleacher Report. One episode aired weekly, with Parsons giving his take on the Cowboys’ game that particular week, as well as all the happenings from around the NFL.

Hooker gave some advice Parsons, urging him to remember what’s most important. That, to Hooker, is the franchise trying to hoist a Lombardi Trophy for the first time in nearly three decades.
“My advice for Micah would be just make sure we’re alright and being where your feet are,” Hooker said. “Because if we’re at work and the run game’s terrible but you’re doing a podcast every week and you know the run game is terrible, then what are you really caring about? You caring about the crowd that’s watching your podcast or are you caring about the success of our team and the Super Bowl that we’re trying to reach?”
If Parsons was distracted by the podcast, it certainly didn’t show up on gamedays in 2023. Parsons suited up in all 17 games, tallying a career high 14.0 sacks and 33 quarterback hits. He finished top-three in AP Defensive Player of the Year Award voting for the third consecutive year.
The Cowboys, of course, saw their season come to an end in the NFC Wild Card Round with a 48-32 defeat to the Green Bay Packers.
