Facundo Pellistri sends message after 'spectacular' display for Uruguay, Kobbie Mainoo instantly responds

Thursday night saw Facundo Pellistri put in a starring performance for Uruguay in the Copa America group stage, now he’s sent a message.

Uruguay retained their 100 per cent record in the 2024 Copa America on Thursday night thanks to a 5-0 thumping of Bolivia.

In the game, Facundo Pellistri was arguably the star of the impressive show that Marcelo Bielsa orchestrated at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Manchester United’s 22-year-old winger – who spent the second half of last season on loan with Granada – scored and assisted in the game which led Uruguayan outlet El Observator to award him a 9/10 for his “spectacular” performance.

Now the dust from the thrashing has settled, Pellistri has taken to Instagram with a message which has received responses from his teammates.

Facundo Pellistri sends a message as his teammates respond

On Friday afternoon, Pellistri took to Instagram with a message for his fans after impressing for Uruguay.

He wrote: “A beautiful night with an amazing atmosphere, thank you! Come on Uruguay, one step closer!”

Underneath this post in the comments, some of Pellistri’s teammates responded to him from both club and country.

Kobbie Mainoo responded almost instantly as he wrote: “Facuuuu”, followed by a heart emoji for his fellow Old Trafford youngster.

David de Gea also replied, sending two clapping emojis to Pellistri, which are well deserved after the display Pellistri put in.

From Uruguay, Fede Valverde sent Pellistri a message, writing: “Thanks to you”, followed by a thumbs up, likely in reference to the fact the No.11 assisted the Real Madrid midfielder’s goal.

Pellistri’s price tag will be on the rise after a strong Copa America

Pellistri’s imposing performance for La Celeste will certainly have caught the eye of teams around Europe, with the right winger due for a departure this summer from Old Trafford.

His agent has all but confirmed this, confirming interest from both Greek side Panathinaikos and Spanish outfit Real Valladolid.

Despite having a contract which is due to expire in 2025, United have the option to add a further year which could effectively mean he has two years remaining so his value shouldn’t be affected.

If he continues to perform like this on the international stage, he could find his suitors increased and this will only be a good thing for those decision-makers at Old Trafford.
