'They treated me very fairly': Trump praises CNN at rally after debate night

Donald Trump's brand of hubris took a few seconds hiatus on Friday in favor of humility.

While he was speaking at a rally in Chesapeake, Virginia, the 45th president salutedthe efforts of CNN's moderators of Thursday night's debate where he distinguished himself from President Joe Biden — roundly seen as struggling to put cohesive sentences together during the 90 minute face-off.

While he was pointing at the 2020 riots that had spread in the wake of George Floyd murder at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis — Trump praised the network that he and his family have consistently assailed for years.

"It was burning down," he said of Minneapolis riots. "Remember the guy from CNN? Although, I shouldn't knock CNN because I actually thought they treated me very fairly last night. Very professional — both of them — Jake and Dana -- they treated us very fairly."

He continued: "They abused me for years. But last night, right? What happened? They treated me very fairly. I think it's great. It was great for CNN, but I thought they were very fair."

The appearance before a packed crowd of thousands in the state that hasn't voted in a Republican since 2004 when they supported George W. Bush, spiked the football.

"Did anybody last night watch anything called a debate," he asked. "We had a big victory against a man that really is looking to destroy our country."

He continued to keep the gloves off by skewering Biden as "corrupt" and "incompetent."

Democrats were scrambling moments after the rematch between the 45th and 46th presidents.

The president's campaign tried to blame the wobble on the big stage — where he appeared hoarse and feeble — on a nasty cold.

It was Biden's shaky showing that overshadowed Trump's spewing of falsehoods misstatements that dogged his lone term as president.
