Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has qualified for her fifth Olympics at age 37 as the Jamaican will be chasing a third career gold medal in the blue-riband 100 metres sprint at the Paris Games.

Fraser-Pryce came third on Friday night in the Jamaican trials, clocking 10.94 seconds behind 200m world champion Shericka Jackson (10.84) and teenager Tia Clayton (10.90).

Fraser-Pryce has eight Olympic medals, including 100m gold from 2008 and 2012, and 4x100m gold from 2021. She is also a 10-time world champion.

Compatriot Elaine Thompson-Herah, who won the Olympic sprint double in 2016 and 2021, plus relay gold in 2021, will not be in Paris due to an Achilles injury.

The men's 100m sprint at the Jamaican trials was won by Kishane Thompson in a world leading 9.77 seconds.

At the US trials in Eugene, Oregon, Grant Holloway was just six-hundredths of a second outside the world record in his 110m hurdles victory in 12.86 seconds. Holloway has three world titles in the event and will be bidding for a first Olympic gold.
