Report: 'Brilliant' Leeds player is now about to leave Elland Road and join Ligue 1 side for £3.8m

Leeds United are closing in on their second permanent sale of the summer.

Following Jack Harrison’s loan move back to Everton earlier this week, Marc Roca became the first player to leave on a full-time deal on Friday.

Just like Harrison, Roca made the switch back to the side he was on loan at last season in Real Betis, who are reported to have paid £4.25 million to sign him.

Those two exits will have come as a surprise to no Leeds supporter following the play-off final defeat to Southampton, with more interest certainly on the members of last season’s squad who could depart.

A host of big names including Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Illan Meslier have all been linked with exits, with player sales needed at Elland Road.

Charlie Cresswell closing in on £3.8m Leeds exit

It appears as though things are starting to move quicker behind-the-scenes at Elland Road with Leeds set to return for pre-season next week.

Jamie Shackleton is close to reaching an agreement with another club, though given his contract is due to expire tomorrow, Leeds won’t be receiving a fee for him.

And there is now another member of Daniel Farke‘s first team squad from last season who is set to depart with Alan Nixon reporting Charlie Cresswell is closing in on a move.

It is said the 21-year-old could have a move to Toulouse tied up quickly, with the Ligue 1 side to pay around £3.8 million to prise him across Europe.

Cresswell is reportedly keen on trying his luck abroad as many English youngsters have done successfully in recent seasons.

Despite signing a long-term deal at Leeds almost 12 months ago, Cresswell barely played at all last season, with his one and only league start coming in the second game at Birmingham City.

Cresswell move suits all parties

Though it would have been nice for Leeds to get a fee closer to the £5 million mark, this is a deal that suits all parties.

The ‘brilliant‘ Cresswell could not have afforded to have another season of sitting on the bench, and at 21, he is in serious need of playing regularly somewhere.

This is also good news for Leeds as Cresswell is a player who came through the academy and so the deal will represent pure profit towards PSR.

However, with Cooper looking likely to leave on a free, and Rodon’s return uncertain, it leaves them in desperate need of centre-backs.
