An Arkansas man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for exchanging sexually explicit material with a minor.

Joseph D. Najera, 26, of Lincoln, Arkansas, pleaded guilty in March to one count of coercion and enticement of a minor.

According to court documents, Najera met the victim, a 12-year-old girl, on the messaging app Kik in 2017. Despite knowing her age, Najera sent her inappropriate artwork and pornography.

The investigation revealed that Najera's control over the victim extended beyond online interactions.

He reportedly dictated her social interactions at school and even controlled her appearance by approving her makeup, clothes, and haircuts. He told the child she was not allowed to talk to boys at school.

Najera's sentence also includes five years of supervised release following his prison term. This case serves as a stark warning against the dangers of online predators and the importance of protecting children online.
