Club now sees 'tremendous' Arsenal star as 'ideal' replacement for £50m talent but face problem

Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus faces an uncertain future after a difficult campaign, and there is transfer interest in him.

The Brazil international struggled in an injury-hit season, scoring just four Premier League goals, and losing his spot at number nine to Kai Havertz.

Jesus has been superb at times since his move from Manchester City, but with his starting place now in jeopardy, and question marks over his fitness and goal records, his long-term future at Arsenal is coming into question.

AC Milan were recently linked with a move, but a surprise option may have emerged as Jesus’ boyhood club Palmeiras are reportedly keen on him.

Palmeiras eye up Gabriel Jesus to replace Endrick

Brazilian superstar sensation Endrick is joining Real Madrid this summer from Palmeiras, for a fee of around £50m.

Endrick is in the Brazil squad for the Copa America, which Jesus missed out on as he aims to recover from his ongoing knee issues this summer.

Brazilian outlet UOL have now reported that Palmeiras are interested in Jesus as a replacement for Endrick upfront, but that his salary would make a deal almost impossible.

Jesus admitted earlier this season that one of his dreams is to win the Copa Libertadores with Palmeiras, where he started his career before joining Man City in 2017.

Unlike last season, Jesus can now enjoy a full pre-season, which can hopefully get him up to speed in terms of fitness and confidence.

At his best, Jesus is one of the best players in the Arsenal squad, and when he was fully firing after he first arrived, he was an exciting attacker who helped transform Mikel Arteta’s side into title contenders.

Arteta recently described Jesus as “tremendous,” and clearly has a lot of faith in a player he also worked with at Man City.

The 27-year-old will still be a huge asset in this upcoming campaign, as he is able to play anywhere across the front line, and Palmeiras are unlikely to be able to offer a significant fee for him.

The likelihood of Jesus making a shock return to Brazil is very low, given that his wages vastly exceed what Palmeiras can afford, whilst he will also hope to bring success to Arsenal before thinking about leaving European football.
