Derby (Kan.) four-star tight end DaSaahn Brame went back and forth between Oregon and Tennessee plenty across what’s been a “wild” past couple of days leading up to his commitment.
The elite Sunflower State product loved what he saw from both the Ducks and the Volunteers on his official visits earlier this month, and both coaching staffs pushed hard for the 6-foot-4.5, 225-pounder. His decision came down to the final hours, but ultimately Brame sees the best fit for himself in Eugene, as he committed to Dan Lanning and Co. on Saturday morning.
“It came down to the final hours, just talking to coaches and talking to my family. Just where I fit in more, I think for me that’s going to be Oregon,” Brame told On3.
Brame rounded out his official visits with a trip to Oregon on June 21. The Ducks have always been a top contender for his pledge, and that last trip helped cement that. The four-star sees the potential to flourish under Lanning, Will Stein and Drew Mehringer.
“It’s the players there. Definitely the offense that they run, I think I fit their offense more than I fit Tennessee’s offense,” Brame said. “That’s really a big thing for me, and just like the commitment that the players and coaches have to make each other better. They all have the same mindset that they’re trying to win a national championship.”
The Oregon staff made Brame feel like a priority. Lanning and others visited him at his school in January before getting him on campus for a visit in the spring. The trajectory of the Big Ten program has Brame excited for his future in the Pacific Northwest.
“With Dan Lanning, he’s leading the program in the right direction and that’s just something I really want to be a part of,” he said.
Brame is the No. 98 overall prospect and No. 3 TE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 4 player in Kansas.
